The lesson  titled "Natural Disasters'  aims to expand your vocabulary, enhance your comprehension skills, and facilitate engaging discussions on the topic of weather and natural disasters. By engaging with these materials, you'll have the opportunity to read, listen to and talk about this important topic with your peers, and share your personal perspectives. 

Task 1. Before we start exploring in depth the problem of natural disasters, take a moment to recollect some of the essential  vocabulary .

Task 5. You have just studied an infographic about the deadliest natural disasters. Now, listen to more details about what happened in Myanmar and arrange the photos in the correct order. Then, submit your audio response in Russian. 

Task 6. 

МЧС  (Ministry of Emergency Situations)  is a governmental agency responsible for handling emergency situations and ensuring public safety in Russia. МЧС deals with various types of emergencies, including natural disasters, fires, industrial accidents, and other crises. The Ministry also plays a role in developing and implementing preventive measures,  and educating the public about safety protocols.

Watch an educational  video by МЧС  that gives a number of recommendations to people caught up in natural disasters including having an emergency pack ( "тревожный чемоданчик" )  prepared, and submit your audio responses in Russian.

Task 7.  Since emergencies and threats can differ in different regions, the recommendations for the contents of an emergency kit can vary based on the location. Carefully examine the safety pack, discussing and identifying the purpose and importance of each item. Submit your audio response in Russian.  

Task 8. In this task, you are going to watch a video and then discuss the key information and safety guidelines presented in the video about hurricane behavior.  

Task 9. Role-play- you are a resident in an area prone to natural disasters. Engage in a conversation with your new neighbor explaining what steps to take before, during, and after natural disasters.
